Unique collaboration between academia, healthcare and industry Collaboration between academia, healthcare and industry is a key condition for advanced research in life science. By bringing together world experts in many fields, Stockholm Brain Institute seeks to enhance its understanding of the brain.   This new institute is yet another example of the region’s ability to cooperate across borders. Its programs cover many areas related to life sciences, including pharmaceuticals, computer technology, memory research and medical imaging.   The cooperation shall lead to greater understanding of the mechanisms, and ultimately provide better treatment, of diseases such as ADHD, autism, dementia and Parkinson’s disease.   Stockholm Brain Institute is composed of eleven internationally-prominent research groups.   It is a collaboration between Karolinska Institutet, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University, Stockholm County Council, Karolinska University Hospital, AstraZeneca and IBM.
