Stockholm-Uppsala is home to a deep pool of experienced and qualified life scientists working for world-renowned institutions and companies.

The Stockholm-Uppsala region is home to five major universities with life science-related education and research, including Karolinska Institutet and Uppsala University, plus three university hospitals. Leading government agencies such as the Medical Products Agency are also based in the region.

The life science industry covers the entire life science business spectrum and employs 23,000 experts – 70% of whom are engaged in product development and/or production. Global life science companies, including AstraZeneca and GE Healthcare, have large sites in the region.

The industry also comprises more than 150 service companies providing expertise ranging from pre-clinical product development to CRO, regulatory and CMO activities. Several business incubators and support functions with close links to the universities are also at your disposal.

This permanent pool of talent provides a wealth of scientific expertise, international business competence, deep sector knowledge and international contacts.
